Everything Is Connected

I am learning so much from the Physical Therapist. It is amazing how much every bone, muscle, tendon, etc. is connected to each other. I had a different arch support in my shoe, and it really seemed to cause more problems on my knee. When I mentioned this to my therapist, he explained which muscles would be affected by that. He would ask about pains in my body that I wasn’t aware affected my knee. I am just blown away by that. I don’t know they are all true, but I have seen charts on pressure points on the bottom of the foot and other areas that are supposed to help relieve headaches, cause energy, avoid nauseousness, etc. I am thinking there is much more to that after seeing how everything is so connected. The ancient Hebrew people also saw everything being connected, but I’m not just talking about the anatomy here. They didn’t see God’s word as a bunch of separate stories about God. They believed that every part was connected in some way. There are images that repeat themselves that reminded the Hebrew people of other things God had said. For instance, when we hear of the Tree of Life, we think about the Garden of Eden, which is very accurate. However, it is mentioned a number of times in Proverbs, and several places in the book of Revelation. The Hebrews, another name that was used for God’s people, built onto the original mention in Genesis at creation. For them, what was mentioned in Proverbs would have connected Genesis to Revelation. It added depth, complexity, understanding, and consistency. The same thing would be said, say, for sacrifices. There were different types, offered for different purposes, over thousands of years. Each new mention added deeper understanding to what was already known or studied. I think this one is particularly important for us today. We talk about the sacrifice of Christ, but I don’t know how often we ponder why Jesus’ death was necessary. We have the basic answers, but a deeper dig into understanding what the Sacrificial system meant to God’s people, the better we will understand what Jesus did. I believe we have to know the Old Testament to better understand the New. Father, give us the longing to know You better each day. Help us to understand Your heart and desire for Your creation... us. Amen
